When What to do Done
12–9 months before Fix the date with both families and the priest; book the party palace for that date. ☐
8–6 months before Book photo and video, decoration and the band; start buying gold if the price suits you. ☐
5–3 months before Wedding clothes and tailoring; guest list from both sides; book janti buses and cars. ☐
2 months before Print and hand out the invitation cards; confirm the number of plates with the caterer. ☐
1 month before Mehendi and make-up artist; puja items; final payments schedule for every supplier. ☐
1 week before Final guest count to the party palace; cash for dakshina and sagun in envelopes. ☐
After the wedding Settle the last bills; register the marriage at the ward office. ☐
Our rules
Both families agree the total before anything is booked.
Every booking gets a written receipt for the advance.
Gold is bought in instalments only if the price suits us — never on credit.
The buffer is spent last.
All amounts are the couple's own: the examples are not average prices. Monthly amounts run from today to the month before the wedding, rounded up to the rupee; the last one evens out. Register the marriage at your ward office after the wedding.
