Done To do

☐ PSA birth certificates of both of you

☐ CENOMAR (certificate of no marriage) from PSA

☐ Valid IDs; sworn application for the marriage license, filed separately by each of you (Family Code, art. 11)

☐ Aged 18–21: written consent of parents or guardian (art. 14); aged 21–25: parental advice (art. 15)

☐ If consent or advice is needed: certificate of marriage counseling (art. 16); many LGUs ask all couples for a pre-marriage seminar

☐ Foreign fiancé(e): certificate of legal capacity to marry from the embassy (art. 21)

☐ Lived together as husband and wife for at least 5 years with no impediment: affidavit instead of a license (art. 34)

☐ Church wedding: baptismal and confirmation certificates (for marriage), canonical interview, banns — ask your parish

What the Family Code says The marriage license is issued by the local civil registrar of the city or municipality where either of you habitually resides (Family Code, art. 9). The civil registrar posts a notice of your application for 10 consecutive days, then issues the license (art. 17). The license is valid anywhere in the Philippines for 120 days from issue (art. 20). Aged 18–21: parents' consent; aged 21–25: parents' advice, and a certificate of marriage counseling (arts. 14–16). Within 15 days after the wedding, the officiant sends the marriage certificate to the civil registrar (art. 23).
