Subject: My dismissal on [DATE] — request for reasons and reconsideration
Dear [NAME],
On [DATE] I was told [in a meeting / by letter / by message] that my employment would end on [LAST DAY OF EMPLOYMENT]. [I was given (NUMBER) weeks' notice / I was paid salary in lieu of notice / I was dismissed without notice and without salary in lieu.]
I do not agree that my dismissal was justified, for the reasons below.
1. My employment

Position [JOB TITLE] — [MANAGERIAL OR EXECUTIVE / NOT MANAGERIAL OR EXECUTIVE]
Monthly salary S$[AMOUNT]
Date I was told of the dismissal [DATE]

2. Why I believe the dismissal was wrongful
[KEEP THE POINTS THAT APPLY, DELETE THE OTHERS]
No inquiry. I was dismissed for alleged misconduct, but no inquiry was held and I was not given a chance to explain.
The reason is not true. [EXPLAIN BRIEFLY, WITH DATES AND DOCUMENTS.]
Discrimination. I believe the real reason is my [AGE / RACE / GENDER / RELIGION / NATIONALITY / DISABILITY / MARITAL STATUS / FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES].
Pregnancy or maternity leave. I was dismissed [WHILE PREGNANT / DURING OR AFTER MATERNITY LEAVE].
Exercising my rights. I was dismissed after I [ASKED FOR UNPAID SALARY / SUBMITTED A CLAIM TO TADM / TOOK MEDICAL LEAVE / RAISED A SAFETY CONCERN] on [DATE].
Other. [DESCRIBE.]

4. What I ask
Please, by [DATE — E.G. 5 WORKING DAYS FROM THIS LETTER]:
1. give me the reasons for my dismissal in writing; and
2. [reinstate me in my position / agree on compensation of S$(AMOUNT) for the loss of my job].
Please also confirm that my final salary and all sums due were or will be paid as required by the Employment Act.
As I must act within the time limit, I will submit a wrongful dismissal claim to the Tripartite Alliance for Dispute Management (TADM) if this is not resolved.
Yours sincerely,

BEFORE SENDING — delete this part
Your deadline is one month. Submit your wrongful dismissal claim to TADM within one month — the Act counts from the date of the dismissal; MOM counts from your last day of employment. To be safe, count from the earlier date.
Pregnancy or maternity cases have a longer limit: within 2 months after the date of confinement.
Do not wait for the reply. This letter does not stop the clock. Submit at TADM even if the employer is still "considering".
Managers and executives dismissed with notice or salary in lieu need at least 6 months' service to claim. Other employees have no minimum service.
Burden of proof. If you were dismissed without notice, the employer must show it was not wrongful. If you got notice or salary in lieu, you must show it was wrongful — so the timeline and evidence matter.
